Executive Director Gail Monahan
The Executive Director of the Alachua County Housing Authority (ACHA) is Gail Monahan. She began working at the ACHA in January, 1973 as Social Services Coordinator, and was promoted to Executive Director in July of the same year.
Ms. Monahan received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Rhode Island in 1971 and moved to Alachua County as a Volunteer In Service to America (VISTA) volunteer. She is certified as a Public Housing Manager by the National Center from Housing Management, Inc., and has completed many accounting, community development, and management seminars. She is extensively involved in local community affairs.
She is currently a member of the NAHRO Committee, Florida Association of Housing Redevelopment Officials (FAHRO), Board of Directors for the Volunteer Center, Alachua County Affordable Housing Coalition, Alachua / Bradford Regional Workforce Board, the Department of Children and Families Family Services Planning Team, and the Alachua County Coalition for School Readiness. She has also served as President of the Florida Association of Housing Redevelopment Officials (FAHRO), a Guardian Ad Litem for the 8 th Judicial Court, a member of the local United Way Budge Allocation Committee, the Expansion Committee for Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc., and is a former member of the Planned Parenthood Board. Ms. Monahan is also a graduate of Leadership Gainesville, sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce.
