Historic D'Acosta House
Our office is located in the historic D'Acosta House in Gainesville's Historic Northeast District. The house was built in 1886 for the Alachua County Tax Collector, Joseph D'Acosta, and it remained a residence for a century before becoming a private school and then office space. The Alachua County Housing Authority bought the house in 2001 and restored the building. Many of the doors and much of the wood was salvage. In addition to the 4,000 square feet of the original building, another 4,000 square feet was added in the same Victorian style. The wrap-around veranda was created during the reconstruction to mirror the original veranda. The building's interior decorations continue in the historic style.
